Psychosis Diagnosis by Nikki Minty is a chilling and thought-provoking story that explores the harrowing line between delusion and reality. The story is narrated by a series of voice talents, including Ari Maza Long, Jodie Harris, James Fouhey, Tamblyn Lord, and Karen Chilton. We’re with seventeen-year-old Monroe Morgan, who has finally secured a way out of his troubled life in Coraki, Australia, when his neighbor, Indi, appears, terrified and fleeing a religious cult. But their escape ends in violence, and Monroe is confined to a psychiatric hospital, accused of imagining everything, including Indi’s existence. A year later, Monroe returns to uncover the truth, diving headfirst into a sinister web of cult secrets, corruption, and buried trauma. As young women continue to disappear, Monroe must race against time to expose the truth and reclaim his sanity.

Author Nikki Minty has a talent for cutting to the bone of a character in her detailed description and narrative viewpoint, and that makes for a psychological thriller that masterfully blurs the lines between reality and delusion, keeping listeners questioning until the end. This smooth pacing leads to a lot of intrigue, and the more I followed the story, the more invested I became in Monroe’s emotional journey, too. There’s an intelligent and emotional exploration of trauma that felt raw but never gratuitous, and Minty delivers a fearless critique of institutional power and cult manipulation through a gripping narrative.

In terms of its audiobook production, the energy in the cast is the first thing that leaps out at you, and the smooth editing and audio balance enhance every moment of the drama. The full-cast narration is packed with emotional depth, and it adds an immersive sense of realism to Monroe’s fractured journey because it feels like you’re experiencing every moment with him. There’s a distinctly Aussie flavour to the work that I also adored, and this blends with the horror and suspense elements for something truly unique. Overall, Psychosis Diagnosis is a highly recommended read, especially in its audiobook format, for fans of psychological drama and character-driven storytelling.
