Robert Haine planned to marry Charlotte Court so he could inherit her father’s company. When he could not get her to accept his proposal he turned to murder. Charlotte witnessed her father’s murder by the Haine’s right hand man. The plan was to make it look like a murder suicide. Charlotte was shot in the shoulder as she ran from her father’s room. The press condemned her calling her a murderer. On the run, she met Matt Sanders, former Navy Seal . There is an instant attraction between the two of them. He vows to find out what has her scared and protect her.

Pursuit by Elizabeth Jennings is a fabulous read. I did not want to put this book down. The plot is fast-moving and has nonstop action. The suspense builds to a climatic ending. I was deeply bothered by the animal slaughter. The combination of intrigue and romance makes this a real winner. I look forward to more books by Elizabeth Jennings.

I really enjoyed this book. Contary to the other reveiwers, I did not think the romance was rushed. Matt courted Charlotte from afar for 2 months. As far as the animal abuse, I didn't think it was needed to define the character and since I was forewarned, I skipped those pages!

I'm a huge fan of Ms. Jennings's work under her pen name Lisa Marie Rice and I was just as satisfied by Pursuit. She has a talent for interweaving action, suspense, and romance in perfect doses. She knows how to write the kind of men that women love. Matt and Charlotte's romance was so sweet! I love how they got to know each other without even talking in the beginning. It was such a sweet 'courtship'. I can't wait until Elizabeth Jennings's next book!

To me, it was very obvious that this was a Lisa Marie Rice story. The description and actions of the hero said it all. Navy SEAL Matt Sanders was a typical LMR hero: he saw the heroine and was instantly smitten, and then he set out to get her. He was a dominant, take charge guy, and very protective of the heroine, Charlotte, yet he also had a sweet, romantic side. I loved this about him, and I also liked how Matt respected Charlotte and didn't try to change her. I also liked how he taught Charlotte how to take care of herself, and this played a very important part later in the story. This story didn't quite have the eroticism of her Ellora's Cave stories, yet I thought the way that their romance developed was very sexy. I also thought that there was a nicely developed plot, and the suspense aspect was very gripping. I also didn't enjoy reading about the animal torture, but I thought it helped show the type of person that Charlotte was dealing with.

Matt had a Navy SEAL buddy who played an important role in this story, and
I could see this developing into a series much like Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series. I would definitely enjoy reading more about Matt and his buddies! This was a great start to what I hope will be a long running series!

I couldnt put this book down, the suspense keeps you there and the romance is sweet and hot. Ms. Jennings did a fabulous job with the story line which was original and it ends happily as all romance novels do.

Great story although a little rushed in the romance department. With the exception of the violent murder of an innocent house animal I had no complaints and only praise for the well drawn out suspense story. However the bigger story is that Elizabeth Jennings is really the much heralded and truly wonderful writer Lisa Marie Rice. Rice was the "virtual" ebook author who debuted with Ellora's Cave Publishing and went on to pen a couple of short stories for Secrets.
It's been a while since her last release and I say welcome back! What took so long? I look forward to more happy reading. Hopefully the wait won't be as long and we will all be enjoying more of her work.

Court Industries heiress, Charlotte Court is shot in the shoulder after walking in on her father's murder. Discovering she's been set up to take the blame for murdering her father in his hospital bed and killing his nurse by CEO of the company, Robert Haine, Charlotte flees in her housekeeper's car. Wounded and feverish, she fears she won't survive the severe winter in the northeast. Seeking a place of warmth and safety she escapes to Mexico. Using her housekeeper's identity, she starts to heal and begin a new life in San Luis where she meets Navy SEAL, Matt Sanders.

Matt has some healing of his own to do. Severely wounded and left in a coma, he fought to stay alive. A shadow of his former self, he's come to San Luis to heal and regain his strength. Feeling an affinity for each other's emotional and physical pain, Charlotte and Matt are drawn together.

Haine had a plan, marry Charlotte and take over Court Industries. Charlotte rebuffs his advances putting an end to his dreams in that direction. Then when she and her father reject the eight billion dollar Pentagon contract he put together, Haine decides it's time to get rid of them both. Unfortunately his men botch the job and Charlotte has disappeared. Needing Charlotte dead and fast if he's to meet the Pentagon contract's deadline, he hires legendary hit man, Barrett, to find and kill her.

I was intrigued by Barrett's character. He's a cold-blooded killer, but has depth and multi-dimensional character traits. He doesn't get pleasure from killing--it's all about the money and he takes great pride in being the best. Haine's character is just sadistic enough to garner hatred from the reader.

The suspense builds to nail biting intensity at the end. I love that the author uses different points of view to tell the story. Being able to know what everyone is thinking adds to the suspense and strength of the story. I did find information being repeated too often in the beginning. And being told over and over again that the heroine is the most beautiful woman in the world grated a bit. Ms. Jennings' gritty and down to earth writing style is a pleasure to read. For those who like romantic suspense, I don't think you'll go wrong with this one.

I liked this book very much. It's a romantic suspence and the romance is quite central in this story - a must for my tastes. However I cant help but feel that it could have been so much better, the romance so much more developed. It was so sweet reading how these two wounded persons crossed glances for the first time and immediately felt a kinship for each other, she became his Angel and I could say that they fell in love with each other almost instantly.

They spend days aware of each other's presence, she watching him every morning during his daily swims, him leaving her gifts outside her door, silently courting her, and she doing the same. Matt then gets the chance to really know this sad and beautiful woman after he saves her from drowning. She can barely swim but when she thought he was going to drown in the sea from bad weather she ventured out to help him and he ended saving her instead. Matt is very protective towards Charlotte, he has seen her bullet wound and knows she is hiding something. She is delicate and very feminine but also extremely strong willed. She is also the most beautiful woman he has ever seen with her silvery blond hair and gray eyes (not casual looks at all as someone mentioned in her review). Charlotte fears telling him the truth, that she is being unjustly accussed of her father's murder and that she has run into hiding. Some of the love making scenes in this book are quite hot but I didnt like the way the author many times seemed to fade the scenes during the middle and we are then faced with the aftermath of their lovemaking ( I would describe this book warm bordering to hot somtimes). What I absolutely didnt like however was that too many chapters were dedicated to the killer, how he thought, how he acted how he planned...on and on. (actually there were two evil characters and chapters were dedicated to them alternatively with the main characaters) If more chapters were dedicated to Charlotte and Matt this would have been an almost perfect book. I also agree with some readers that the scene of the cat killing was brutal (and unneccessary in my opinion since Charlotte never learns of it.)
however I would recommend this book as it was a pleasure to read it ( though i skipped the cat killing scene and almost the entire chapters dedicated to the killer....needless to say I finished this book in less than a day)

I loved it. I felt the author developed a good balance of suspense and romance.
I most certainly will read more of this author.
