Queer Sense: A Guide to Understanding and Accepting LGBTQ+ People by B. Bentley Summers is a book dedicated to all the queer people across the United States. These people continue to struggle as they try to push forward queer rights. The LGBTQ youth suicide is a serious problem and the purpose of this book is twofold. The first helps them realize how culture has played a role in shaping their attitudes and the ones around them to queerness and the second will help readers use their newfound awareness to take charge of their attitudes. The book is a good way to change the perception of society towards the LGBTQ community and develop a positive attitude towards them.
I am glad that the author has chosen to write about a topic that is not often spoken about in public and decided to shift the focus from harmful bias and ignorance to awareness and acceptance of all sexuality and genders, thereby leading to healthy relationships and a happy and peaceful life. The book educates readers about the various words that are used for describing people's sexual orientations. It is a well-written book that has explained the LGBTQ community in a manner that can be understood by all readers. The Queer Sense Model, the three key factors that make Queer Sense unique and distinctive, the different aspects of the Queer Sense Model, and Queer Sense in a real-life example are all informative to readers when it comes having more knowledge about the LGBTQ community.
