"Riverside Tales: The Adventures of of Franky and Mousey" by Audrey Donoghue is a collection of 16 poems based on Frank the rat and Mousey the field mouse. The rhyming poems are amusing and full of fun and mirth. The bright and colorful illustrations is a bonus. They actually capture the two characters Franky and Mousey very well, and convey a lot about the story. I enjoyed this poetry collection. As is tradition, the poet writes rhyming poems. There is something between rhyming poetry and children. Children prefer to read rhyming poems more as they start reading. She manages to have a storyline to it where the poems begin with Franky running into Mousey and till they grow old together, which is an innovative thought. It motivates children who want to indulge in writing poetry. It is important to introduce poetry reading to kids at a very early age so that they will develop a liking for that. Rhyming poems and poems with illustrations are the ideal way to do that. This book is just that.
