Royal Retelling: A Sweet Royal Romance is a work of fiction in the romance, light-hearted comedy, and interpersonal drama genres, and is the second novel in the Love in Laandia series. Penned by author Holly Kerr, the plot follows Prince Gunnar of Laandia as he navigates the complexities of finding a date for the royal wedding. Gunnar, the carefree youngest son of the king, faces a dilemma when he realizes he needs a date who won't overshadow the bride and groom. Enter the town's Sea Queen, who agrees to accompany him, much to the dismay of her stepsister, Stella. Once childhood friends turned enemies, Gunnar finds himself drawn to Stella as they spend more time together, leading to a surprising revelation about his feelings in this enemies-to-lovers royal rom-com.
Author Holly Kerr uses a natural sense of charm and romance to craft another delightful journey into the whimsical world of Laandia, and this romantic adventure is just what fans of clean dramas have been waiting for. It’s absolutely packed with witty banter that keeps the comedic charm rolling, and I appreciated the varied cast of realistic and amusing characters that brought the story to life. The dialogue between the central pair was fresh and sharp, creating a captivating enemies-to-lovers romance that kept me hooked from start to finish as the well-paced plot delivered plenty of challenges. The dynamic between Gunnar and Stella was particularly engaging, with their childhood history adding interesting layers to the evolving relationship as adults. Kerr expertly balanced humor and heartfelt moments, weaving a sweet and entertaining tale of love and redemption. As the wedding approached, I found myself rooting for Gunnar and Stella, eagerly anticipating their happily ever after. Overall, Royal Retelling is a charming addition to the Love in Laandia series, filled with laughter, romance, and a touch of fairy-tale magic that all romance fans will certainly enjoy.
