Running Scared is a story of sinful acts and the consequences that the innocent are subjected to when sin is overwhelming. Robert Davis was the eldest of nine children, all living on welfare with their grandmother in New Orleans. His grandmother was a good, honest woman, and Davis loved and respected her; but money was so tight that he resorted to thieving to bring some extra food in for the family. He knew that she would be deeply upset about his stealing, but hunger took precedence.

Then everything began to go wrong. Temptation and a corrupt fellow police officer came his way, and Davis succumbed to getting something he didn't even really want. After that it was a slippery slope, and before too long, the respected cop was under arrest and looking at spending decades in prison – at best. So, Davis ran.

At first his girlfriend stayed with him, but eventually it became too much and she left, and Davis took to living in the woods, far from human contact and relying on his survival skills. For more than twenty years he lived wild or inconspicuously in cities, making his living from a life of crime. There were more relationships and more children destined to be brought up without a father.

It was physically and mentally tough, but Davis vehemently remained an atheist. God had no part in his life; they had no need of each other. That was until the day that Davis heard a stranger's prayer and realized that he was tired. He was tired of running and tired of the life he was leading, and he needed to have God in his life. The fugitive who had no need of God put his fate in God's hands. He returned to New Orleans to the family he had not seen in more than twenty years and to face justice.

This thought-provoking read with the suspense of a thriller leads the reader on a chase for life. It is one of those interesting reads that will encourage you and bring a faith-lift into your heart! It's truly an enjoyable read that was not only interesting but "got a thought" across about running from God. Like Jonah in the Bible, you can run, but you can't hide from the Almighty God; and when He finds you He creates a better life for you.

Don't miss this great read! Or better yet pass it on to a troubled person in your life!

Great story of redemption. What I'm really impress with is he didn't have to share this story with anyone. How many of us are willing to open our door of skeletons?

Somehow I believe this true biography will be made into a film/movie. Others in this world need to understand that we ALL make mistakes, bad choices and decisions. But courage is to admit them. Congratulations Robert and I for for one thank you for sharing your life.
