Scarlet Revelations by Robert Ahanes is a collection of poems inspired by the Book of Revelation and the apocalyptic prophecy. The Book of Revelation, often simply known as The Apocalypse, holds a central place in Christian eschatology, and describes a series of prophetic visions and apocalyptic messages from God to John. The imagery and symbolism inherent in it has led to a variety of interpretations over the ages. Robert Ahanes has written this set of poems based on his own interpretation of the symbolism, imagery, allegories, and prophecies described in The Apocalypse, without making any significant modifications to the biblical context itself. The poems express the basic human emotions of hope and despair beautifully in the ongoing struggle between good and evil as the end of the world nears, and certainly provide plenty of food for thought.
Scarlet Revelations by Robert Ahanes is a great mix of poems, and what I liked about it is that each poem is unique in my opinion, in both content and style. All the poems are well structured and flow well and, more importantly, really made me pause and think about the true meaning behind each of them. The writing style is simple and pleasing without being too wordy. I also think that the blend of different styles of poetry from various sources adds a really unique touch to the book. Overall, I think this book is the perfect length for a poetry book and one that I would recommend as an excellent, thought-provoking collection of poems.
