Senior Thesis: A Novella in Screenplay Form is written by Darren Greninger. Senior week is a time between finals and graduation when seniors traditionally decompress, think about their future, and sow wild oats. Landon Riser has been obsessed with Maggie, and she’s finally single. Maggie notices him on his way to a failed interview and the two begin a relationship. Maggie is career-driven, and her desire for money and a good job seem to align with Landon’s aspirations. Just after Landon catches Maggie’s eye, he bumps into Aurora, an independent, free spirit, who rebels against conformity. Landon is drawn to both girls, but deciding between them may reshape his life and career trajectory.

Darren Greninger has a gift for dialog, and the amusing banter between the characters will keep readers smiling and engaged as they turn the pages. It’s easy to see the story unfold through the author’s vivid, yet concise descriptions. The characters are typical college students, although they vary from one extreme to another. The author creates an environment where they work together, building the story with ease. Landon is not the only one who conveys a message to the audience, as the secondary role players make decisions that help shape the outcome. Greninger ties up the relationships formed, ended, and continued well, leaving readers with an inspired happily-ever-after, even though it’s not the outcome that the characters had intended. Senior Thesis is a great choice for readers who enjoy screenplays with romance.
