In an excellent new read by author Joe Corso, Shootout in Cheyenne is a book that lovers of Westerns, as well as other readers looking for a great work of fiction, will find themselves glued to from the very start. Follow the story of Cal Rhymes, a man leaving the Civil War and a dark past behind him, as he ventures forth on his plan to set up a grub stake for Buffalo in Cheyenne. His luck seems to be changing when he wins a rifle in a marksmanship contest, as well as the nickname, "The Calico Kid." But when he crosses paths with Neil Sutter and the Sutter gang on his way to making his dreams come true, it seems possible that all he hoped for will come crashing down. Will Cal reach the peace he hopes for? You'll need to read the book to find out!
I very much enjoyed Shootout in Cheyenne. Author Joe Corso has done a great job in providing an exciting and adventurous tale that will keep readers obsessively turning the pages from the start all the way through to the very end, determined to find out what happens. His scene setting skills are simply second to none, and he is a master at creating characters that his readers will connect with, relate to, and truly come to care about. If those aren't the traits of an excellent author, I'm not sure what are. I highly recommend Shootout in Cheyenne and look forward to reading more from the talented author, Joe Corso, as soon as I possibly can!
