In Silent Oath by J.P. Brutus, Dr. Sarah Adams was trying to save Jacques Tramblay’s life at the Saint-Laurent University Hospital. Jacques was brought to the hospital after a motor vehicle accident. Nearly a year later, Sarah was accused of negligence during Jacques's surgical care and inadequate post-surgical care. The syndic, Marc-André Dufresne, of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, had requested an official meeting with Sarah. Dufresne does not just investigate, but destroys people and pushes them to the edge. Sarah’s name was all over the news about the ongoing investigation. Sarah could tell people were talking about her behind her back by the shift in the air as she walked into the hospital. Sarah and her husband, Lucas, are doing everything they can to clear her name, but will that be enough in the end?

Silent Oath by J.P. Brutus was full of corruption, injustice, and betrayal. With the fast-paced plot, I never knew what to expect next. Enough time was allowed between the events to process everything fully before the next event. The engaging writing style had me hooked from the first page. The events were descriptive, and it was easy to lose myself in Sarah’s world. At times, it felt as if I were standing next to her during the procedures. For someone without any medical background, the medical terms were easy to understand. The characters were well-developed and relatable, each with a background. The characters felt real, and my favorite was Sarah, who was dedicated to being a surgeon and devoted her life to healing others. The plot was brilliantly planned and executed. The book held my attention throughout, and I enjoyed reading it.
