Author Biography

By way of Rochester, NY and several other places before I landed in California. I live with my husband, dog, daughter, and a demon masquerading as a dog.

When I began writing (I know this sounds familiar, over dozens authors state this) it was an outlet for me. Not only that, I was creating fan fiction before I knew what fan fiction was. Eventually, my writing evolved into standalone worlds with standalone characters.

While I write across genres (I find it hard to stick to one genre), I do have an archetype when it comes to the female protagonist -- they have to have certain type of strength, strong convictions, and layered personalities. There will often be a lot of darkness and depth to my stories, but I don't see the point in writing vapid characters who are thrust into "safe" situations.

Join Charis, an extreme non-conformist with a quirky gang of friends, and a kick-butt personal assistant I would quite literally give an arm and a leg for, as she navigates the crazy world of the New York fashion industry. Courtney Lane has created a detailed and animated world full of drama, deceit, love, and lies, and it makes for one HELL of a wild ride. I really enjoyed it!

Written in first person, we get a bird's-eye view, and a little more, when dealing with all that Charis encounters. I loved Charis as a character. The way her personality came out in the first person narration really endeared me to her, despite her rather jaded and cynical nature. She's got spark to her, hidden underneath a mountain of snark and sarcasm. A fully fledged power-house in the fashion industry, Charis has Charisma written all over her, and I loved her intense personality.

The side characters were great as well, specifically Charis's friends. You really grow to love Charis by the end. Wiley Kenzie, too, was a great character. Complicated, and a bit mysterious, you really don't know where Charis stands with him. The story is great and sucks you in so you get wrapped up in it to the very end. StrangeHer Love was my very first Courtney Lane book, but you can bet that it won't be my last.
