Can an honest man with good intentions change years of backstabbing and unethical ways of conducting business in a corporate environment? Success Is Not an Option by Warren Alexander explores the many possibilities in this humorous novel. When the CEO and Chairman of Remora Property & Casualty passed away, the board decided to do something unheard of; they appointed their graphic artist, Rob Stone, as the CEO. Equal parts ecstatic, confused, and nervous, Rob accepts the offer. Although he intended to improve the way of working, he misjudged the gravity of the ridiculousness with which this company was operating. From a tongueless bodyguard to a literally "talking out of her ass" head of marketing, each new character made him realize how out of depth he was in this new role.
Behind the witty dialogues and outlandish circumstances, Warren Alexander's attempt to highlight the absurdity of the whole corporate culture peeks through. The plot develops through a series of hilarious circumstances, keeping the tone light and putting a smile on the faces of readers. However, it also makes you wonder whether anyone actually wants a real change and what such a change would mean for the corporate world. It took me a while to connect with the story, but it is well worth it. If you are looking for a light read to get your mind off the stress of daily life and want to laugh at the many nonsensical things you do (or are forced to do) at your job, I highly recommend Success Is Not an Option by Warren Alexander.
