Super Penguin 2 by Rob Witzel is the tale of a penguin, Paul Frost, who is endowed with superpowers and solves crimes. Paul and his friends, Annie the polar bear and Sam the lion, meet new antagonists and experience thrilling events. With the arrival of the notorious Dr. Pigg as well as other antiheroes, Paul has to assemble a team to protect everyone. Adventure, comedy, action, and suspense make the story very interesting and intriguing for young readers. The element of mystery where Paul is unable to comprehend his newfound superpowers contributes to the overall excitement of the story.
It was a pleasure to read Super Penguin 2. Rob Witzel balances humor and action very well which makes the whole story interesting and filled with comedy. The characters are developed well and have wonderful attitudes and goals that make the young reader sympathetic toward them. The illustrations by Katie Weston complement the story and ensure that readers are entertained besides explaining the action and characters. The story incorporates relevant messages throughout in a humorous way that does not make the young reader feel like the story is preaching. At the same time, the messages effectively make the story very inspirational. Children who enjoy animated tales of action and humor with great characters will engage with Super Penguin 2 and find it entertaining and amusing. I highly recommend Super Penguin 2 to youngsters who are still in the process of learning how to read and want a story that will engage their attention.
