It is the year 2042, the solar system has been colonized and the ISA, The International Space Administration, has been formed to regulate space. The Phoenix, the ISA’s newest ship, has a dual mission, peacekeeping and scientific research. But, things are not what they seem to be. An admiral with a grudge against the Phoenix’s Captain sets him and two crew members to ride an antique B-29 Bomber. However, it is not just an ordinary ride. The pilots of the B-29 plan to crash it with Captain Jason Armstrong and the two Phoenix crew aboard. Fortunately for them, they are able to parachute out in the nick of time. The three ISA members are lost at sea with the Phoenix on the other side of the solar system. Through the use of very advanced telepaths, things are set into motion to rescue them. But, can rescue come in time?

The blurb for this story says it is light space opera. To me it was more than just space opera, more like Sci-fi action and adventure, mystery, and intrigue. I have mixed feelings about this story. First of all, I really like the characters. The plot, though full of very good action and adventure, had a few flaws. This book is listed as the first in a series but on several occasions the author made slight reference to incidents from the pasts of several of the characters. I think a few paragraphs as flashbacks would help the reader better understand the characters and their interactions to better set up the plot lines. Technically, the story is well-written and with the exception of the things I noted, I found it to be a very good read.
