In The Cornucopia Forest, an adventure novella by James P. Usavage, Rover and Mona Lannigan, a happily married couple, are suddenly struck by a wish to go on a hike. Rover chooses an unfamiliar neck of woods for their hike, and soon, the couple are on their way into the Cornucopia Forest. After coming across a seemingly abandoned campsite filled with ancient relics, the husband and wife return from the hike with a notebook written in ancient Sanskrit. Upon Rover's insistence, both of them join the hiking group 'Likers for Hikers.' They meet another couple, Victor and Tonya, who are the only ones in the group to see and feel the mysterious happenings in the Cornucopia Forest, like Rover and Mona. Can they solve the mystery?
Thought-provoking and laced with mystery and intrigue, The Cornucopia Forest is a short and captivating read that enchants readers until the very last few pages. The biggest draw of this book for me was the suspense-filled ambiance of the Cornucopia Forest. You never know what to expect in the forest, and that tantalizing sense of mystery has you spellbound. Author James P. Usavage also skillfully weaves humor into the plot, which makes it all the more entertaining. I liked the character relationships in this story, particularly the dynamics between the two couples, Rover and Mona and Victor and Tonya. The author also incorporates some social commentary about human civilization into the plot, which I found very interesting. It's an absorbing story for fans of mystery and adventure tales.
