Jim Perry just wanted to catch some fish for supper. With no nibbles, though, he goes in search of some worms, but what he finds is just the beginning of his troubles in this captivating story by Keith Rommel. The Devil Tree hides a secret that Jim uncovers, one which will turn his life upside down. The site of unspeakable evil, the huge oak holds the remains of two corpses whose discovery unleashes a tragic chain of events. The officers assigned to the case, Abernathy and Schaeffer, become enmeshed in a mystery that leaves them confused and actually afraid as they try to sort out what role Jim or his harpy of a wife might have played in the death of the two victims. Bill Faulkner, a dedicated blogger trying to make a name for himself, follows the incidents that take place at the old oak, but even he begins to question the wisdom of remaining near the evil influence. How many more unsuspecting casualties will be attributed to the menace hidden among the branches?

Keith Rommel has taken a local legend and created a spellbinding story in The Devil Tree. Based on what are considered to be true events in Port St. Lucie, Florida, Rommel cleverly weaves a horror story that keeps you guessing right up to the very end. Whether there is an external cause for evil or it is simply something that resides within an individual, The Devil Tree skillfully explores the feelings and events that torment the average person, leaving you to wonder just what you may be capable of.
