The Dusk Chronicles is a time-travelling adventure written by Vicki-Ann Bush. After witnessing a man disintegrating to dust in the middle of the street, Noah Winston returned to the scene later, only to find four people where the body had disintegrated. The female of the group, Emma, was crying many tears over the deceased’s ashes. After they disappeared as quickly as they had appeared, Noah confides in his best friend, Travis, about what had happened. Each evening at dusk, they would both witness the small group appearing from nowhere before disappearing a short time later. Completely enamored of Emma, Noah spends a short amount of time with her each evening before they have to return to their hidden town, which had vanished under a curse from one of the Native American tribes. After finding their names in the history books from over one hundred years ago, Noah is determined to do whatever he must to break the curse, which he hopes will finally allow him and Emma to be together.
Not being a fan of time-travelling adventures, I was a little skeptical, but when I saw the author was none other than Vicki-Ann Bush, I broke with tradition and grabbed it. I rejoice in that decision after reading this magical tale of romance between two lovers who are worlds apart. The characters are very engaging and likeable, and the landscape was so well described that it was easy to visualize myself being there. My heart broke at Emma’s tears when I discovered her relationship to the deceased who had appeared briefly at the beginning of the story. They say that love can conquer anything, and The Dusk Chronicles shows exactly how far a talented wordsmith’s imagination can push that boundary even further. I recommend this book for readers who enjoy their romance with a touch of drama, stretching their imagination to the fullest.
