The Elephant Who Wanted To Be A Bee: A Children's Picture Book on Goal Setting and Perseverance (WantsToBe 2): Book 2 of the WantsToBe series by Valerie Harmon is the charming story of an Elephant who wants to become a Bee. Elephant is allergic to flowers and his nose is always dripping and eyes are always watering. He envies the Bee who is buzzing around the flowers, gathering nectar and pollen. The Bee tells the Elephant to use his ears to fly around like the Bee. But every time the Elephant tries, he only falls. Will the Elephant find a way and become a Bee or will he still remain an Elephant and allergic to flowers?
It is an imaginative story that will make young readers dream and strive to do something different despite the limitations they face. The colorful illustrations give the Elephant and the Bee personality and also breathe life into the scenes. The illustrations give more details on the story too and kids will love the transformation of Elephant to Ellabee. The ending is unpredictable and I found it original. It gives kids freedom to think outside the usual mindset and also teaches them about perseverance. I found the book an inspiration because it encourages kids to be more innovative and creative. The combination of the two creatures, Elephant and Bee, is very original and added with the message it makes a good read.
