Gear up for a superpowered story about sibling love and responsibility in The Epic Adventures of Super Skye and Titantrum by Candace and Aria Jordan. Five-year-old Aria is the big sister of one-year-old Cady. Both sisters love spending time together and keep a big secret—they have superpowers! When Baby Cady gets upset, she transforms into the supervillain Titantrum and wreaks havoc. When this happens, it’s up to Aria to use her powers and her big sisterly love to protect Cady from getting hurt. Through playtimes and action-packed super battles, Aria’s sisterly affection remains strong.
The Epic Adventures of Super Skye and Titantrum by Candace and Aria Jordan is a fantastic tale that demonstrates what it means to be a good older sibling. Kids will love the vibrant and expressive illustrations, especially lovers of all things superhero! I appreciated the creativity and excitement of the superhero standoff—the Jordans serve up a fun-filled dramatized version of calming a toddler down during a tantrum, where Aria must use her powers to protect Titantrum, even as Titantrum is causing destruction. I also appreciated how accessible this book is for both family story times and for young readers to try on their own. Words are in a large font and the vocabulary is a perfect blend of challenging words to tackle and familiar words to build up confidence. This book is a perfect gift for new big siblings to prepare and appreciate the “great power and great responsibility” of loving their new family member.
