Mokie the Monster was in a bad mood. He wanted to be fed. Monsters liked tasty drinks and needed snacks too. He said he would hiss and growl and stamp his feet unless someone gave him something to eat. The sign said not to feed the monsters. The monster decided to make some monster hash. He whipped up a smelly monster goo. He added a scoop of rocks to make a chewy monster soup. He made a monster float, baked a monster cake, and added a pinch of bugs and a cup of flies to add flavor to the monster pies. He also decided to whip up a yummy dessert with a touch of leaves and a dash of dirt. Would you like to be Mokie the Monster's guest and taste the dishes he has cooked up?

The Monster Zoo by Gwen Banta is a fun story for young readers, along with some slimy food that will make them come up with more ideas to cook some monster dishes. The illustrations are as colorful and weird as Mokie's dishes and will put a smile on the faces of young readers. Children will love Mokie's character. I like the author's imagination and creativity to come up with a wonderful story like this that will have readers wanting to know more about the dishes Mokie will cook. They will also want to try out some recipes using their imagination and creativity, just like Mokie. It is a good book for parents and tutors to use at home and in classrooms for storytelling and read-aloud sessions.
