The Most Curious Case of the Runaway Spoon by Tony Flannagan revolves around Amelia, who is a teenager now, and she wakes up to find a letter behind the little green door. Amelia had always found notes and letters tucked behind the little green door when she was young and she cannot remember the last time when she got a fairy letter. She is older now and does not believe in these things anymore. The strange thing is that this note is not signed. She goes outside and sees Pippa and they both get on Moonstone, the grey rocking horse who was standing next to the shed. Pippa tells Moonstone to take them to Fursairy Land. Amelia has been summoned to Fursairy Land to solve a small problem. Pippa introduces Amelia to the Under-Secretary and tells him that if there is anyone who can solve the Case of the Runaway Spoon, it will be her. The Spoon is missing and Amelia wants to meet the Dish. Will she be able to solve the case of the Runaway Spoon?

Children will find the story enchanting and, as they accompany Amelia and Pippa, searching for clues to solve the case, they come across magical characters that will fascinate them and hold their attention. The narration is detailed and descriptive and the author’s way of describing the characters, their travel through the Kingdom of Nonsense, and exquisite surroundings make the story appealing to young readers. The story brings back memories of reading Enid Blyton and her mystery books. All the characters in the story have a fantastical vibe and will definitely keep youngsters captivated as they find out if Amelia can solve the case.
