Vitamin N! That would be nature and her attributes to our health, mind, body and soul. Richard Louv shares the wealth of knowledge gained in extensive research, his own lifestyle of loving nature and the tragic loss of his own father whose demise happened shortly after changing to a lifestyle of "inside living".

The author shares practical advice, fun stories, and research based facts and is very convincing that every person needs nature in their life.

The direct result of "fresh air" is a clear mind, more oxygen to the brain, and being exposed to elements in the air that are not found inside. Our bodies reap the benefits of walking through the flora and fauna (versus on a treadmill) where the footing changes and various muscle groups get to be used.

It is said by different scientific studies that humans have up to 30 senses! Nature, in all her beauty, sounds, smells, etc., allows for a plethora of experiences -- no two are alike.

There is so much to say about this wonderful book but the bottom line is that nature has a lot to offer and those who do not find time to enjoy miss out.

Having been raised in the country, on a small farm, I identify with the author's message. I, too, must spend time outdoors whether it be fishing, clamming, crabbing, skiing, hiking, mushroom hunting (and so on). Monday morning is never quite as good if the weekend was spent indoors!

As an audio book, I absolutely enjoyed every CD. I listened on my way to and from work, when I had to run errands and during every opportunity I had. It was nice to imagine the scenes, contemplate the information, say "wow" at the research of scientists and smile at the realization that I am living right with a life full of Vitamin N!
