A strange new phenomenon is occurring around the world and Powa is among the few lucky ones who have been able to capture it on their phones. When a person dies, a light hovers over the person for just a few seconds and then it just vanishes. No one knows where these lights come from and where they go, but they want to find out, especially some very powerful people. When 16-year-old Powa is able to capture the phenomenon and she uploads it partially by mistake, she is persuaded by some very influential people to upload the full video. But she does not want to so she does what you can expect a teenager to do: she runs. What can she do with the information she has? Should she even run away from the people who might be able to give the public some much-needed answers?
It has been too long since I picked up a young adult novel that was able to impress me as much as The Request for Lambency by Ileso DMC did. The author doesn’t pull any punches and simply lets the reader get more and more from the very beginning. The themes, the setting, the concept, and the overall plotline are simply too good to put into words. Powa is a smooth talker; she knows when she is in trouble and how she can get out of it. She is also a very smart girl who knows her strengths and plays them very well. Her development was spot on and actually went so well with the storyline. She grew as the tension in the story reached a crescendo and from then onwards, she was a force to be reckoned with. Needless to say, she is among my most favorite characters of all time. The Request for Lambency by Ileso DMC is awesome!
