The Spirit of Love: The Spirit of Love, known as Glen is a collection of poems that have been written over a period of time and that have been consolidated in this book. The Spirit of Love is laid out and formatted in a clean and simple way and starts off with the poems right away without any elaborate introduction or background story. I liked and appreciated this fact because the attention is immediately and solely focused on the poems as a result. The poems touch many themes and emotions, but the overarching theme deals with philosophy and spirituality. Specifically, the poems talk about and make one reflect on the journey of life, what it means, the essence of life and death and change, what it means to be self-realized and transcend, and much more. The collection also contains beautiful photos of nature scattered throughout the book.

The Spirit of Love is a good collection with the musings ranging from one-liners to poems from a few sentences to a few paragraphs in length. I liked the shorter, one- or two-line sayings more than the longer poems, but overall, there is an inner beauty and message in all of the poems in this collection. The writing style is minimalistic and clean, as is the formatting, so the overall sense I got was one of spaciousness as I was reading. The one thing I would have liked was more information provided by the author himself about his own life and experiences that led him to this point. The only information I took away from the author was that his parents helped him and enabled him to travel, which led to a transformation. Still, the poems are enjoyable and thought-provoking and I enjoyed reading them.
