The Starlight Club 11: The Saint of Lake Topaz centers on Big Red Fortunato, Bull, and a number of their associates. Bull is on his way to Las Vegas but stops to visit his wartime buddy, Sal Stark, the owner of the Lucky Lady Casino. Upon his arrival, he is upset to find Sal has been beaten up by a local so-called businessman trying to buy out his casino. Bull is furious and immediately heads over to meet this man, Jarret Hastings. Bull takes an immediate dislike to Jarret and wants nothing but justice for the friend who saved his life in the war. As Bull is leaving this meeting, he is approached by a small little girl named Suzi who is sure Bull is the saint she has been praying for. Suzi goes on to tell him that she, her sister, and several other young girls have been locked up and held as prisoners. Suzi very quickly wins Bull’s hardened heart. He immediately knows what is going on and calls in Big Red Fortunato and his gang. Big Red, Bull, and several others make it their mission to free the girls while exposing the ring, putting themselves in great danger from Jarret and the men who have bought these young and innocent girls.
The Starlight Club 11: The Saint of Lake Topaz is a book I really enjoyed. It is the story of good and evil men and fixing the wrongs. This book is a must-read for all. Joe Corso has continued the Starlight Club series and, as always, it is a smashing success. The characters are real and the plot will keep you up at night until you reach the last page. Red, Bull and their unorthodox handling of rights and wrongs have continued throughout the series, making it impossible not to keep cheering them on. Each book stands on its own merits. The suspense and excitement kept me on edge until the conclusion. I personally would like nothing more than to see the Starlight Club books turned into a weekly television show. Please read The Saint of Lake Topaz - you will be glad you did.
