The Strawberry Festival by Meaghan Fisher is an entertaining story for young children. Kevin and Emma Rose are excited because it is time for the Strawberry Festival. The Strawberry Festival lasts for a couple of days and is all about having fun and, of course, strawberries.

The way Fisher wrote The Strawberry Festival made me want to attend the event and I do not even like strawberries that much. I chose to read this book with my 4-year-old daughter because she loves strawberries. Fisher made this Strawberry Festival sound like a ton of fun. The bed races look hilarious. It is something I would love to see. The strawberry salsa that was mentioned actually sounds appetizing. I liked that Fisher snuck in the lesson of “It’s not important who wins. As long as you have fun doing it.” The illustrations look as if they are hand drawn and are very colorful. My daughter’s favorite picture in the book was the firetruck and the Dalmatian. The wording is not too difficult and some children may be able to read it by themselves. The only thing I would add to the story is the location of where this festival happens.

Overall, I thought that The Strawberry Festival was a cute book. I have never heard of a festival for strawberries before, but I will be on the lookout for one. If it is really as fun as Fisher described, then it is something that I would like to experience with my child.
