Intrigue, mystery, religious history, and adventure are all bundled up spectacularly in The Tenth Sword of the Prophet: The Last Revelation by M.J. Kojack, a novel that should sit on the shelf alongside works in the tradition of Dan Brown. Michael is a professor at Princeton University and he specializes in Middle Eastern anthropology. When a gruesome murder is committed at the Saint Catherine Monastery in Sinai, the top members of the clergy enlist his services. He is thrown onto a trail that follows murders and the theft of sacred relics from the Topkapi Museum. As he races across Europe, Tel Aviv, Damascus, and Tehran, he must unravel the mystery of a sacred parchment concealed in the missing sword of the Prophet Muhammad: a parchment that might reveal the true successor of the prophet. The balance between Islam and the Judeo-Christian religions depends on his work and the stakes are higher than anyone had imagined. Can he unravel the mystery before it is too late?
The Tenth Sword of the Prophet: The Last Revelation is mystery at its best and the story features compelling characters and superior plotting. I was pulled in right off the bat as I read the cryptic message from the one who introduces himself as the narrator in a voice that was irresistible. The author explores some of the foundations of religious conflict and presents characters that are real, a religious setting that is utterly convincing, and a plot that is as twisty as it is engaging. Michael is an elaborately developed character, an expert in his field, and one who is equally versed in Semitic traditions. His adventures are fraught with danger and with moments that are exhilarating. While the book keeps readers entertained with the pulse-pounding action, it doesn’t fail to offer enticing moments of romance too. The Tenth Sword of the Prophet: The Last Revelation features writing that is stellar and atmospheric and a plot that is intelligently accomplished, notwithstanding the memorable characters and the phenomenal conflict.
