The Ticket by Christian Wecker is a captivating action thriller starring LAPD policemen Christoph Lewis Friedman, a veteran Patrol Officer, and his partner Timothy Patrick Obrador, nicknamed Redbone for his red hair and copper skin. Boyishly mischievous and adventurous, Friedman and Redbone work well together, always trying to do what is right when it comes to law enforcement. Living paycheck to paycheck, Friedman and Redbone have the fondest of all dreams – to win the lottery. They play the lottery religiously, buying their weekly five-dollar ticket at the nastiest liquor stores to trick the lottery gods. One day the lottery gods succumb, and they win one of the biggest Lotto drawings in the history of California. How will they handle this life-changing win?
Reading The Ticket by Christian Wecker I felt as if I were watching a film. I loved shadowing Friedman and Redbone on their action-packed suspenseful patrols full of loose-cannon antics with a twisted sense of humor. I thoroughly enjoyed the insights into the operational conundrum of the LAPD and the thought-provoking introspect dilemmas Friedman and Redbone were facing on their path from rags to riches. The Ticket is much more than a fast-paced action thriller as it delves into the vice of the criminal world and juxtaposes the efforts of the LAPD to enforce law and order. I wholeheartedly recommend The Ticket to a wide audience of adult fans of crime fiction, police thrillers, legal thrillers, and adventure.
