Sir William Ellesworth, an Englishman of dubious reputation, is in Russia on a grand mission, one he hoped would stay a secret between him and his daughter Anna; assassinating the Tsar of Russia. However, perhaps taking his daughter to Nyaboskoye was a bad idea. Anna meets Captain Gavril Danilov, an Imperial personal guard. Gavril learns about Ellesworth’s plan and his most important secret: his daughter is a dangerous mercenary and the key to his plan. Gavril’s allegiance to the Tsar threatens Ellesworth’s plan, and to Anna, it means the man she loves stands in the way of her mission. Which will the two choose? Love or loyalty? But that is not all. Nyaboskoye, an estate once under the control of the Danilovs, faces an ugly fate under its current ruler, a tyrant count. With a plan already underway to take back the estate, can Gavril save Nyaboskoye and its people from their imminent fate? Find out in M. K. Stelmack’s The Tsar’s Angel.
This page-turner will hook you from cover to cover. M. K. Stelmack’s The Tsar’s Angel is just the right pick for lovers of historical novels with a gripping backstory based on espionage, Russian royalty, conspiracies, loyalty, love, secrets, deceit, rebellion, politics, drama, adventure, and so much more. Stelmack weaves an intriguing plot, featuring a fascinating, dynamic cast. Paying great attention to detail, Stelmack uniquely captures the mood and setting of the era, colorfully bringing it to life. It felt like I was back in the early 1800s in Russia, experiencing the country’s rich culture and lifestyle. The refreshing conversations, alongside the use of introspection and occasional commentary laced with wit, gave depth to the cast’s conflicts and emotions. Juxtaposing their complex traits allowed me to connect with them. This book is effortlessly a classic. I loved it.
