The book Tribal Ideals, by Jasper White, is an essay about pre-civilization’s human values that are forgotten in today’s consumerist world. The author dedicates a chapter to each ideal, explaining the concept and suggesting what readers can do to implement them in their everyday life. Some of these tribal ideals are: respect each other and every living being on the planet including the earth itself; be generous and help others whenever you can; be honest and always do what feels right; take responsibility for your actions; be good; and implement a mind-body connection regime among others. The beneficiaries of these tribal ideals will be the planet, the human race, as well as every single individual.
Tribal Ideals by Jasper White is refreshing to read in today’s society where every time you open the Internet you'll most likely see an advert on how to get rich quick or how to spend your money, etc. This book makes you stop and think about real values and how your life can improve if you are good, kind, help your fellow humans, and respect everything around you. There are a few opinions in the book about the corporate world, the rich, and the American government that some readers may or may not agree with, but overall, it is a positive book that every person can learn from. Written in the first person, the book also includes the author’s personal opinions about the ideals he enumerates and what he does to implement them in his everyday life.
