Unexpected Metamorphosis: Book One in the Alissia Roswell Series by Tianna Holley is a mix of fantasy and romance which tends to be more romance in this part of the series. The main character is a normal girl in our world - Alissia - but when she suddenly gets pulled into another dimension, everything changes. For one, her eyes and hair turn purple over time and she discovers a few very interesting abilities. The world she then lives in, though, isn't a world that welcomes such people and Alissia finds that she has more enemies than allies. Some want to protect her, some want to get rid of her, and some would like to take advantage of the powers they suspect she has (but might not have!).
The story is rather interesting, however, these days, it always seems to be about love triangles. So this is a bit of a cliche and when Luke appeared again, I was already sure about some of the things that would happen. In a way, the book was a bit predictable. However, it was very well written and entertaining. I just wish we already had learned more about the various mysterious creatures that inhabit the other dimension as the story always became very interesting when they were mentioned or even briefly turned up. Unexpected Metamorphosis leaves many questions unanswered and I'm sure readers will be quite motivated to read the second book to get those answers. Book 1 was well written and pictures of what the world looked like easily appear in the reader's head.
