Being born with a severe heart defect didn't stop Georgia Davis from having hopes and dreams like all other teen girls. She had been sheltered most of her life, dependent on her parents because of her illness; but when she was given a car at sixteen, it gave her hope for a future, hoping to become independent at eighteen. Instead, she is told she has a year or two max to live. So what's a girl to do other than find a vampire and be turned! Yep, turned! She figures that's her one shot at living; so she chooses a college that is close to an area famous for vampires and sets out to find a vampire to turn her! What she soon finds is being turned is the easy part, figuring out the rest...well not so much!
I loved this story. The cover pulled me in, but I must say, the story really held me from the first pages! I loved the character of Georgia, a girl who should just be starting out her life but, instead, is told that she is dying. She didn't give up, though, and came up with a plan that would allow her to "live." The thing that made this book uniquely different from other vampire tales was that Georgia really had no clue as to what she was doing. After being turned by Dominic, she struggles with the basics of being a vampire. I could easily imagine her frustrations as she bumbled along and couldn't help but laugh on a few occasions. Her saving grace was when she hooked up with Justin; they made a great team, and ironically, he was someone she had met at college before she was turned. There were plenty of issues to keep me turning the pages, and the twist at the end, with the vampire hunters, was great. My only complaint about this book was that it ended way too soon, but it leaves me anxious for the next installment in the story. This is a fantastic book that will appeal to teens and adults alike!
