Author Biography

My books are based on a lifetime of experiences. Some are primarily to entertain, and others are to point out issues that are all too common. Ultimately they point to faith.

I enjoy helping people. I've worked in numerous settings over the years, and always found opportunities to help people. Some of my most treasured work was working with a human trafficking awareness group. I've also worked with victims of domestic abuse, taught at the undergraduate level, and worked with poor people in inner cities and rural areas.

I enjoy walking through the woods, paddling down a stream, and rock climbing. My faith is my anchor through life, along with my family.

Walking By Your House by A W Anthony is a wholesome Christian romance that brings fresh authenticity to the young adult genre. Alan Weiss, a socially awkward teen, embarks on a heartwarming, comical journey of love, faith, and self-discovery that will appeal to both religious and secular readers. The novel deftly handles themes of first love, personal identity, and spiritual growth through the lens of Alan's endearing mishaps and genuine struggles. Anthony creates a world where faith feels natural rather than forced, allowing readers to connect with Alan's experiences regardless of their own beliefs, while his journey through the complexities of teenage social life provides both humor and touching moments of growth.

Author A W Anthony captures the authentic feel of adolescence while maintaining a delicate balance between faith and entertainment. I particularly appreciated how the narrative approaches teenage romance with both humor and respect, avoiding common tropes or the need to over-dramatize a situation. It also delivers genuine emotional resonance that is on the right level for YA readers to relate to. Anthony's portrayal of Alan's awkward yet earnest attempts at love and friendship rings true, creating moments that are both cringe-worthy and deeply relatable. Some stellar dialogue moments made me chuckle and sometimes genuinely brought a tear to my eye. The integration of faith elements feels organic, adding new elements of self-reflection to the character development without becoming preachy or overshadowing the central story. Anthony depicts Alan's growing self-awareness and emotional maturity through both comedic and touching situations to create a satisfying journey that feels earned rather than contrived. This arc exemplifies teenage insecurity and longing, but with a tone that remains uplifting and hopeful throughout. Overall, I recommend Walking By Your House to readers seeking a genuine, heartwarming story that handles both faith and teenage romance with equal sincerity and charm.

Walking By Your House by A W Anthony is a wholesome Christian romance set in a small Indiana town during the 1970s. The story is told through the eyes of Alan Weiss, a shy teenager. The arrival of the Swatz family brings economic development, job opportunities, and a new girl in town, Emma Swatz. Alan finds it easy to talk to Emma, and soon, they are friends and part of a larger group, “The Gang.” As they get closer, Alan develops feelings for Emma, but he can’t bring himself to tell her. He soon devises a plan to walk by her house every day to catch a chance to see her. Can Alan build his confidence and confess his feelings to Emma? And can their love stand in the face of adversity?

A W Anthony delivers a heartwarming, easy-to-follow story in this slice-of-life narrative. Emma and Alan are both likable characters, and their love story is filled with respect, trust, and chuckle-worthy misadventures. Both characters have a strong sense of family, striving to build a relationship with each other’s family and loving and celebrating together. Even as the years go by and they face the storms of life, Alan remains the compassionate and considerate boy from his younger days, albeit more confident and assertive. Friendship dynamics, relationship tension, and teenage drama abound in Walking By Your House. This book would appeal to lovers of young adult romance or teens seeking to understand the beauty of wholesome relationships.

Walking By Your House: Finding Love in the Heartland: Story Two by A. W. Anthony is for Christian romance and drama fans. Alan Weiss is a good student and has many friends. However, it's hard, even impossible for him to tell a girl that he likes her. Emma Swartz is a new girl in Alan's school. She is beautiful and amiable. They become friends, and Emma tries to help Alan gain confidence with girls. Over time, these two young people deal with issues that test their faith and inner strength. Will Alan gather enough courage to tell the girl he loves about his feelings? Or will he continue walking by her house, hoping she notices him?

A. W. Anthony's Walking By Your House is set in the 1970s-80s and evokes strong nostalgia in those who remember and cherish simpler times. This compelling book helps younger readers get to know the older generation better. I appreciate the author’s simple writing style with a sprinkle of humor. The novel examines how Christian values shape our work and family ethics and has unexpected and thrilling twists. Anthony encourages us to keep our Christian faith even if others try to ridicule or mock us. The main characters are inspiring and likable. Alan demonstrates strong will in a stressful moment, and Emma lives and acts by her moral principles. The author describes life in a small town in Indiana, highlighting its positive and negative aspects. The romance is clean and suitable for young adult readers. Historical and psychological fiction lovers will enjoy this engaging book, which I highly recommend.

However, unlike other boys, Alan struggles to convey his feelings to her. The years pass, and, as Alan and Emma get closer, their friendship develops into a relationship. After graduation, Alan gets a job at an insurance company and marries Emma. But a few blissful years later, an unexpected misfortune strikes the family when Emma's father is sent to prison on money laundering charges. Can Alan and Emma overcome their family's misfortune?

Walking By Your House is a heartwarming tale about love, family, and faith. This coming-of-age story tugs at your heartstrings all the way through and leaves you with a smile on your face. Author A.W. Anthony does a masterful job of covering many years in the story by moving the plot at a steady pace with discernable growth for the characters. It makes for an immersive narrative as the reader gets to know the characters inside out and is invested in their storylines. The main characters, Alan and Emma, are likable people who seem perfect for each other. It's very easy to root for them. Apart from the romance, the plot also features some dramatic moments that add more intrigue to the overall story. If you enjoy romances with a hopeful ending, you will love this book!

Walking by Your House by A.W. Anthony begins in the 1970s and follows Alan Weiss as he moves from adolescence into early adulthood and his developing relationship with Emma Swartz. From initially befriending Emma in high school, Alan experiences the ups and downs of relationships, including his unspoken feelings for Emma, both of them dating other people at various times, and their eventual romantic connection. Their relationship grows as they graduate, get married, and face the usual hurdles of adulthood, including career and financial struggles. As Alan’s insurance business flourishes, their life together seems to be on track until they are unexpectedly caught up in a criminal investigation. This brings a dramatic turn to Alan’s otherwise stable life and sets the stage for potential upheaval in the couple’s future together.

In Walking By Your House, A.W. Anthony gives readers a slow-burn coming-of-age romance that moves forward linearly through the trials and triumphs of young love, family, and faith. The writing is straightforward, with bits of nostalgia that those who grew up in that era will smile at, like a game of Spin the Bottle. Alan’s evolving relationship with Emma is tenderly developed and I was rooting for their connection from Alan's awkward early days of high school to their adult life together. The author does a nice job of mixing an undercurrent of self-discovery, the march toward maturity, and commitment within a Christian context, grounding the romance in the values of patience and respect. The book does not have a plot with a discernable rising action in the traditional sense as the first two-thirds is purely Alan's and Emma's evolution, but a shake-up toward the very end does add a little more than a simple, but endearing his and hers conflict. Overall, this is a thoughtful and heartwarming story for those who enjoy clean romance and coming of age.
