Author Biography

A.D. Popovich was born and raised in Louisiana. At the age of fifteen, she moved to California with her family. Living in California was a huge eye-opener for her. California meant freedom. “Well, back in the 70s it did.” After meeting her husband, life has been one adventure after another. They lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a while—absolutely wonderful. Several years later they made a wrong turn and ended up in Florida: too many tornadoes and alligators.
They returned to California and started their own business, The Cosmic Shirt Company, until the Bankstas caused The Crash. Homeless for a while. “Yes, really.” They finally managed to get their feet back on the ground after obtaining super-boring jobs.
After decades of working in the mundane world, A.D. Popovich decided it was time for a change. She focused almost every second of her free-time focusing and visualizing her childhood dream—writing. Her first novel, Only the Dead Don’t Die, was more successful than she had anticipated. She’s busy working on her next adventure. She strives to write compelling survivalist stories with a touch of the metaphysical.

When the Trees Started Falling by A.D. Popovich is a gripping environmental thriller set against the backdrop of climate chaos. The story follows Luna Lewis, who returns to her rural home to appease her activist parents, only to find herself amidst a growing climate disaster as wildfires and extreme weather events ravage the landscape. Alongside other evacuees, Luna must navigate a series of escalating environmental catastrophes, all while contending with unexpected human threats. The novel explores the unpredictability of a world destabilized by climate change, blending survival and suspense in a race against time.

Author A.D. Popovich masterfully builds suspense through relentless environmental disasters, making the reader feel the urgency and unpredictability of each new event with plenty of flair and excitement. The portrayal of climate chaos feels frighteningly plausible, and it's all rooted in real-world science, which adds to the novel's tension and emotional weight, as well as the take-home messages. I found myself deeply invested in the characters' individual arcs, especially Luna's, which are intricately woven with the larger environmental narrative, making the story feel both intimate and epic. Through thrilling storytelling, Popovich effectively raises awareness about the dangers of unchecked climate change, making the reader contemplate the dire consequences of inaction. The tense atmosphere and character-driven survival story create a compelling read that's hard to put down. Overall, I strongly recommend When the Trees Started Falling for those seeking a thought-provoking and intense environmental thriller that will keep them on the edge of their seat.

When the Trees Started Falling by A.D. Popovich is a futuristic novel about what will happen when the inevitable collapse of planet Earth due to climate change is finally upon us. Luna, having been put in charge of her little brother Rogue by their selfish, eco-loving parents, wakes up to the startling realization that a fire is engulfing their entire neighborhood. It's up to Luna to get herself and Rogue to safety. With no other means than their parents' old bus to get them out of there, the two rapidly race to escape the raging fire. Along the way, they pick up some interesting characters, one of them being Luna’s old babysitter, Mrs Romano. But as they sift through what is left of their community, Luna makes some startling revelations; it seems her parents might not have been the selfish ones after all. Slowly Luna comes to realize that she might have been part of the problem. But little does Luna know that the fire could be a cover-up for something far more sinister than humanity could have ever imagined…

When the Trees Started Falling is a deep, thought-provoking saga, and A.D. Popovich delivers the message with earth-shattering clarity. The engaging plot with a hilarious narrative and equally hilarious characters, including Pixie the adorable kitten, made for a highly entertaining read. Rogue kept me thoroughly entertained with his quirky personality although his brattiness left much to be desired. I found Luna's thought-provoking realization that the Age of Consequence was upon them a pivotal point in the plot, a reminder that we need to take heed and realize that the time to save our planet is now. As Luna was my favorite character, I was very proud to see her grow so much and learn from her mistakes. Thought-provoking, and entertaining, When the Trees Started Falling held my attention from beginning to end, with the shocking truth at the end laying claim to the fact that the author knows how to create a praise-worthy plot. I’ve learned a lot about climate change, and highly recommend this remarkable novel to supporters of green conservatism and those interested in the subject of global warming, its causes, and how to prevent further damage.

In A.D. Popovich's climate chaos thriller When the Trees Started Falling, Luna Lewis had to take care of her ten-year-old brother, Rogue, while their parents went on a protest tour. Luna intended to take Rogue to Auntie SunFlower, but when she woke up, she discovered that everything around their house was engulfed in flames. Luna and Rogue escaped in an old school bus that their parents had refurbished. They brought their neighbor, Roxie Romero, with them to Gold Town. Jackson Jones, commonly known as Handyman Jack was heading to Oregon to assist a friend. The hotel in Gold Town was ablaze, forcing Luna, Rogue, and Roxie to flee once more by bus. During their travels, they met Jack, and the four of them had to face both the wildfires and the threats of coyotes and mountain lions.

When the Trees Started Falling by A.D. Popovich felt like a wild ride through wildfires, blizzards, and landslides. This gripping story kept me captivated from start to finish. There was so much action that I was never bored. The writing style was engaging and so intense that it filled me with dread for the characters. The characters were well-crafted and compelling. Luna, Rogue, Roxie, and Jack relied on their instincts and intelligence to escape the wildfires and treacherous weather. With the internet and cell services down, they were completely cut off as everything around them fell apart. The plot was expertly planned and executed. I was deeply immersed in the story, feeling as if I was part of the characters' battle for survival. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and recommend it to anyone seeking an outstanding thriller.
