Be prepared for suspense, romance, historical details, and excellent characters in Roseanna M. White’s latest novel, Whispers from the Shadows, Book Two in Roseanna’s Culper Ring Series. England and America are at war with each other and yet Gwyneth’s father sends her to America to stay with some old friends whom she has never met. Heartbroken, grieving, scared, and alone when she leaves, Gwyneth is not prepared for whom she meets and what she discovers when she arrives at the home of the Lane family. Handsome Thad Lane finds himself losing his heart to Gwyneth, but what does that mean for the role he is playing in the war, and how will the life he leads affect his relationship with the woman he is falling in love with?
Roseanna M. White does an excellent job at bringing alive the time period here. The tension between the two countries as well as individuals is very much alive within the pages. The characters come to life as well, drawing the reader into their lives. I think that Roseanna has done an incredible job with developing the characters and the relationships between them, as well as the characters’ relationships with God. Gwyneth and Thad share a common factor, their relationship with God and this is obvious in how they live their lives and make decisions. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series!
