Why Me? When God Is Not Your Only Choice is a slice-of-life drama by Jose Aguiar. Diana is a confident young woman who is outspoken about her beliefs. She is a psychologist at an abortion clinic and helps other women navigate a tumultuous time in their lives. After an appearance on a talk show, Diana's popularity soars to unprecedented levels. Basking in her newfound glory, she ventures out one night with her friends to a nightclub to have a good time. But things don't go according to plan as Diana returns home with no memory of what happened that night. To make her situation worse, she learns that she is pregnant, but has no idea of who the father might be. Now, as she prepares to abort her unwanted baby, Diana is visited by a stranger whose intervention forces her to look at things in a new light.

With a crisp and concise narrative, Jose Aguiar tells an engaging story about a young woman's dilemma. Why Me? touches upon a topic that is critically debated by the general populace - abortion. The author shows reasonable arguments from both sides of the fence, ultimately leaning toward pro-life. The characters are placed methodically to highlight the underlying theme of the narrative. Diana is a flawed individual whose hypocrisy shines when she struggles to undergo what she enables others to do. She came across as less pro-choice and more "do what I say, not what I do" kind of a person. This is what makes her compelling as a character. Recommended to readers who love theme-driven narratives.

What if everything you stand up for, passionately defend, and advocate for one day is the same thing
that will bring you an excruciating amount of uncertainty after one life-changing event?

“Why Me?” carefully sketches the truth behind choices in real life, that invisible realm that lies just beyond the horizon of what we have believed to be right and when what we have passionately dedicated our life to is now a heart-wrenching decision we have to face.

At the center of “Why Me” is Diana, a young psychologist at an abortion clinic. Diana has become a celebrity in her own right. She is sought out as an expert in the cause of abortion rights by the media and by her close friends. In “Why Me? Jose knits a very personal story as he masterfully draws us into Diana's life, which gradually choreographs the sort of confrontation we’ve come to expect and fear at the far end of the abortion controversy.

“Why Me” will cause you to think about what it is that drives your decision today and in the past. It is easy to find your own life choices flashing before your eyes with a plethora of questions that takes over with every single emotion and confrontational decision Diana must face.

I highly recommend “Why Me” and give it 5 stars!
Good read. Thought-provoking.
