Yesterday's Shadows by David R. Beshears shares six stories that he wrote when he first started on the path to becoming an author and journalist. Each story is complete in its own right and leaves the reader wondering what a full-length book would bring. Most of the stories were written as assignments when studying at university. The author takes the reader on different adventures in each short story, prompting them to rethink how they view the events unfolding in the world around us.
In Yesterday's Shadows by David R. Beshears, from the very first story, Yesterday's Shadows, the author shows the reader how important life is. Reunions is a macabre tale about spirits who come together every 50 years to make decisions that affect people's lives, leaving the reader wondering whether this could happen. Each story has a message for the reader in its own right, memories of talks with people who have passed on, and the unexplained tale that the person was trying to tell you. Memories of outings are remembered fondly, especially those that were spent with a very special person, one-on-one. The fact is, as humans, we always look for light and noise, and things to do. But when they get taken away, what will we do? The author has written an anthology that is very thought-provoking and will resonate with the reader long after the book has been closed and put on a shelf. It is well worth reading again. A thought-provoking read.
