Getting a kid into bed is usually a mission in itself, so making it a literal space mission is a genius move. In Zoom to the Stars, Megan Erin Hamilton shows how Aaron turns a boring bath and pajamas into an astronaut’s adventure. I loved how his bedroom and hallway turn into deep space—his closet becomes a mysterious black hole, and the bathtub is suddenly an ocean landing site for his rocket. With "Space Commander Dad" and Mama leading the mission briefing, the typical steps of getting ready for bed become an adventure rather than a chore. It all leads up to a really cozy countdown, where Aaron finally drifts off just as he "blasts off" into his dreams. The story ends with 10 Awesome Space Facts, which is a great touch for kids who are starting to get curious about rockets and planets.

Megan Erin Hamilton’s writing is exactly what you want for a young reader: short, punchy sentences and fun sound words like “ZOOM!” and “BOUNCE!” that make it perfect for reading aloud. The story follows a really reassuring tone, moving from that initial "I'm not tired" energy to a very peaceful, sleepy ending. As someone who has survived plenty of one-more-story negotiations, I really appreciated how Zoom to the Stars respects a child’s imagination rather than just telling them to sit still. The moments where Aaron is chasing his alien dog or hiding from black holes feel very grounded in how kids actually play. It’s a warm, familiar story that turns a potential bedtime battle into something fun and gentle. I can easily see this becoming one of the books that kids ask for every single night.

Zoom to the Stars by Megan Erin Hamilton is a delightful children’s bedtime story. It is not only a colorful picture book but also an adventure story. The writing is enjoyable, and the storyline is clear and concise. Arron, a little boy, imagines he’s riding his spaceship into the Milky Way and beyond until he is interrupted by his mother’s call to keep to his daily routine. When it is time for his bath, he and his rocket crash-land into the ocean (or his tub). Later, he climbs into his spacesuit, which ironically looks like pajamas. At the end of the book is a glossary of space terms.

Mixing science with storytelling, Megan Erin Hamilton has created a sweet and comical children’s story in Zoom to the Stars. Illustrated by Chris Fowler, this book is a necessary addition to any child’s bookshelf. Bold colors invite readers and nonreaders alike. Aaron's sidekick puppy follows him everywhere, which I found endearing, and kids will also appreciate it. But what I liked most about the story is that Aaron’s parents nurture their son’s space travel fantasies by playing along with him in his space quest. Showing his parents encouraging Aaron to use his imagination is unique for a children’s book, I think. But it is so important. I was also impressed that the author has ingeniously written about science concepts in a cute bedtime tale. The artwork in a children’s book is what first attracts them to read a story. The artist has done a phenomenal job in creating pictures that show movement, something that spacecraft, planets, and Aaron all have in common.

Aaron loves to play with his rocket. In his imagination, he is an astronaut soaring through space, moving through the Milky Way, past the moon, and toward a cluster of stars. But it’s almost bath time, which means bedtime is near, and Aaron can no longer play with his toys. Quick! He has to find a place to hide. He gets sucked into a black hole, his rocket hits an asteroid and crashes into the ocean, and finally chases an alien. Zoom To The Stars: A Bedtime Adventure by Megan Erin Hamilton has clues for observant kids to find on every page and concludes with a bonus section containing fun science facts.

Zoom to the Stars by Megan Erin Hamilton is a fun-filled and joyful picture book that celebrates creativity, family moments, childlike wonder, and the beauty of nature. This book turns a nighttime routine into an adventure, and it is evident how Aaron’s parents care for their child. They engage in his passion by providing him with age-appropriate storybooks, giving him a space-themed bathroom, and his mom gives him his favorite star-patterned pajamas, which she calls his space suit. The illustrations by Chris Fowler celebrate the power of the imagination. Aaron’s dark wardrobe is a black hole in his mind, sucking him and his rocket inside. Crashing into an asteroid, which is actually the living room couch, the rocket’s parts began to fall off. It is Aaron taking off his clothes bit by bit in preparation for bath time, where his rocket finally crashes into the bathtub, sorry, I meant the ocean!
