EZ as 1-2-3 Come Learn About Bugs A-Z, written and illustrated by Kathryn L. Novak, is a book for children that is adorable and fun to read. Each page is devoted to a letter and a bug or a few bugs that begin with that letter are shown and described. For example, "P" is for the praying mantis which can turn his tiny head one hundred eighty degrees. The text is written in rhyme and is therefore "catchy" and fun to read. Many of the bugs included are ones that are commonly seen and well-known; however, there are some that are not and children and adults alike will learn something new while reading this book.
If your child is interested in bugs, then Kathryn L. Novak's EZ as 1-2-3 Come Learn About Bugs A-Z is the one for you! Kathryn has done an excellent job with this book as the layout is simple yet colorful, which is ideal for children. The letter and the corresponding bug looks as if they are framed on a piece of scrapbook paper; I love this look as I find it visually appealing and it jumps out at the reader. The text rhymes make this book flow very well and it will hold the child's attention as well as have them guessing which word will end the sentence in a rhyme. This is a book that will be both enjoyable and educational for young children. I highly recommend this for children interested in learning more about bugs.
