I've collected so many series guides that I could have a whole shelf for them. They're little books that give me quick run downs on episodes and tell me what to expect from my favorite shows. Usually, they are straightforward, lack luster, and unoriginal. James Wylder has turned this genre upside down in An Eloquence of Time and Space as he creates a poetic look at the famous TV series, Dr Who. Instead of finding the one episode you need, I find myself reading all of them as the creative poems that go with each episode are unique, funny, and a joy to go through.
Why isn't this how all episode guides are structured? It's interactive, appealing, keeps my attention for every single episode, and none of the poems feels like they just continue the same pattern as the previous one. Each one has its own scheme and rhythm, and it creates a beautiful collection that can be read as episode synopses or a book all on its own. My only complaint is that I wish some were a little longer and that some gave a bit more depth on the plots, but, overall, I loved it! I've already recommended An Eloquence of Time and Space to quite a few of my Whovian friends and I can just tell this book could be the next big hit within this fandom. There are millions of fans and a multitude of them would find James Wylder's book just as fun as I have!
