If you want an inventive and innovative way to approach some topics of major social concern, reading Angels, Babies & Bad Guys by Dolly Ogawa-Amsk will certainly give you that. Her book introduces us to Catholic priest, Father Anthony Rossi, who finds himself in the odd and precarious position of being pregnant with his own parasitic twin. Unsure of what to do, and hounded by the press, Father Rossi goes into hiding, trying to sort out his own feelings and figure out what his next best steps should be. Helped along the way by a mish-mash of characters who are intriguing in their own right - Rose, a homeless woman, his housekeeper Lupe, some family members and a gay couple - he finally encounters the Angel Tabbris, the Angel of Free Will and Alternative Solutions. Tabbris gives him a message from God, and with that Father Anthony Rossi needs to figure out what to do.
Angels, Babies & Bad Guys brings to the forefront a number of current social concerns, including gay rights and a woman’s right to choose an abortion. Author Dolly Ogawa-Amsk’s writing style is simple and fast-paced and the book can easily be read through in an enjoyable afternoon. Her thought-provoking novel gives the reader plenty to think about, and could be shared with friends and family of opposing viewpoints in many political matters as a starting point in civil discussion. This book would appeal to anyone who enjoys reading fiction and a book that makes them think. Good work, Ms. Ogawa-Amsk, and I hope to see more from you in the future!
