Author Biography

Kimberly (Kim) Keenan, MS, MSW, LCSW received a Masters Degree in Social Work from The University of Illinois and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She received a Masters Degree in Psychology from Portland State University/Akamai and is currently a PhD candidate in Applied Ecopsychology with Akamai University of Hawaii.

In addition to spending many years in private practice, she has also been a national speaker on anxiety disorders in children, a freelance writer, artist and educator. She is currently an adjunct professor at The University of Illinois as well as a field instructor for graduate school of Social Work.

As a clinical social worker with OSF Saint Francis Medical Center working with children and families, she is a co-investigator of several research studies within the OSF institution and co-directs her passion at The gitm (Gifts in the Moment) Foundation.

Anxiety Mapping for Kids: 50 Keys to Managing Anxiety in Children by Kim Keenan and Denise Urycki is an excellent book for parents who see anxiety problems in their children. The pressures of current society cause a lot of anxiety in children. This book works as guide to parents, teachers, caregivers, and other groups working with these children in trying to find an effective solution to anxiety related problems. The author has listed what can be the symptoms when a child has anxiety and the tips are really useful to everyone handling these children.

Anxiety in children can be detrimental for their progress because it robs them of self-confidence and creates complexes which makes life tough for them and also the people dealing with them. The 50 tips given in the book are really useful and help the people who are around these children to a great extent. The symptoms, the reasons, and then the tips make it a very useful book to own. It is a book that can help many people who struggle in finding a solution when it comes to dealing with anxiety in children.

The author's style is clear and very easily understandable. The tips can be applied because they are simple and rational. It's a book that is really helpful and can be used as a guide when it comes to handling children with anxiety.
