Immerse yourself in an absorbing sleuth mystery whodunit with Jo A. Hiestand's Arrested Flight. Mike McLaren, a former police detective, thought he would enjoy his much-deserved holiday in the secluded town of Whitby. However, when circumstances force him to spend his days in the village of Moorton in Cumbria, McLaren is ready to make the best of his situation. He finds room in a B&B, whose owner reveals to him that her daughter Lilwen's boyfriend, Hadley Deakyn, a musician, was murdered a year ago, and the case is still unsolved. Reluctantly, McLaren delves into the investigation, questioning the locals about Hadley and the case when another man disappears. Moreover, McLaren finds several bodies in the woods. As he uncovers an insidious smuggling operation, McLaren puts himself and his friend in grave danger.
If you like cozy murder mysteries, Arrested Flight is the perfect book for you. This whodunit tale gets its hooks into you from the first page and keeps you engrossed until the last with a delicious mix of suspense, mystery, and intrigue. Jo A. Hiestand has woven an intricately plotted yarn featuring well-placed twists and turns that keep you on your toes. The narrative is well-paced, but the main highlight of the book is its characters. Hiestand masterfully captures the feel of a small rural English village in the portrayal of Moorton, with its salt-of-the-earth people and slow and sleepy atmosphere. I enjoyed the friendship between McLaren and Jamie and found the characters of Lilwen, Barry, and Melanie very likable. Readers who love a well-written murder mystery should grab a copy of this book!
