Big Paws, Bigger Heart: A Dog's Memoir by Jim Loveless is the heart-warming story of an owner and his dog. The story is narrated from the dog's point of view and it speaks about the love that gradually grows between Finley, the dog, and his owner. Finley comes into the life of his owner and fills the void left by his previous dog, Brook, when he died. Finley walks into his owner's heart and picks up from where Brook left off. The book speaks about the roles of these two dogs in one man's life and how it changes his life. It is a beautiful love story that will make readers laugh and cry at the same time. Part of the book has Brook's stories about his time with the family and the neighborhood.
It is a simple story that all dog lovers will be able to relate to. The special bond shared by them is palpable throughout the book. The book also covers aspects of breeds, training, agility, obedience and competitions that many owners put their dogs through. It is actually a wonderful story that covers all the aspects of having a dog at home and loving it. The letter that Brook writes to Santa for Christmas is delightful and the gifts that he asks for will put a smile on readers' faces. The book is a must-read for all dog lovers. They will understand the feelings and the emotions better and will really enjoy this charming tale.
