In the exciting murder mystery novel, Bitter Truth (Bitter Root Mysteries) by CJ Carmichael, vandalism, a death, a disappearance, and a valuable missing piece of art indicate that things may not be as they appear in a small Montana community. The residents of Trail Creek are surprised and sad when elderly Lacy Stillman is found lifeless in her bed. She seems to have died of natural causes, and as she was over eighty years old, that seems reasonable. However, when Lacy's granddaughter disappears, some people suspect that her death may not have been what it seemed. Zach Waller, the dispatcher for the County Sheriff's department, is one of the people who aren't sure something sinister doesn't lie behind Lacy's sudden demise. As he delves into the circumstances around Lacy's death, it triggers something that brings past sins and tragedies in the community to the surface with shocking consequences.
Bitter Truth (Bitter Root Mysteries) by CJ Carmichael is a thrilling murder mystery that will hold the reader captive until the final page. Complete with mystery, murder, and hidden sins, this is a page-turner you can't put down. The enthralling story has engaging characters, an intriguing plot, an exciting story line and enough action to keep the reader enthralled. Although it is the second book in the series, it works well as a stand-alone and is unquestionably a superb addition to the first. I am looking forward to reading the next book and hope it will be out soon. This is a fabulous mystery novel, and I recommend it to everyone who loves mysteries that uncover secrets that lie decades in the past.
