George Fiori, a descendant of the master swordsman Fiori dei Liberi, is gifted with clairvoyance and bears his forefather’s legacy of master swordsmanship. As his father had told him, George’s gifts would help him fight monsters and the evil of the world. George has also grown up experiencing visions of monsters but he doesn’t meet one until shortly after joining college in Boston. He narrowly survives an attack from a human-hybrid monster while on a subway train. Was he ready for the war ahead of him? George meets Saga Gunnerson, a Swedish armed forces master in explosives and weaponry who is destined by fate and joins him in the ultimate war against evil and monsters. Find out more about George and Saga in Mitchell Sanders’ Climate of Monsters, Friulian Son Book 1.
Mitchell Sanders’ Friulian Son, the first installment in the Climate of Monsters series, will appeal to supernatural enthusiasts of young adult fiction who like a touch of horror, humor, adventure, and action. Featuring a well-crafted cast, Mitchell forges an enthralling plot. The vivid depictions of the scenes had me feeling like I was right there next to the cast as they made their every move. Mitchell clearly brings out their traits and emotions which made it easy for me to connect with the cast. George is an intelligent, compassionate, big-hearted, and agile character who is irresistibly likable. Saga on the other hand is a savvy, guarded, volatile, short-tempered character you can’t help but root for.
