Author Biography

Yankton, South Dakota, is my hometown. I graduated from high school there in 1957. After four years earning degree in English at St. John’s University (MN), I became a teacher. My first wife, Elaine Finfrock, also of Yankton, and I had five children; four sons and a daughter. We divorced in 1977.

In 1964, I joined The Travelers in Minneapolis, MN and began what turned out to be a 40 year career in the financial services industry. During the that time, in addition to The Travelers, I held positions with Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota, Wilson Learning Corporation, and Wachovia Bank and Trust. I retired at the end of 2007 after 17 years as a Financial Adviser with Merrill Lynch serving over 300 clients in the Winston-Salem, NC area.

In 1986, Melinda Folger McLeod and I were married and I gained a stepson, Matthew. Currently, we divide our time each year between our cabin New West Jefferson, NC and our cottage in Southport, NC on the Cape Fear River.

I enjoy golf, music, and reading history. Since retiring, I have focused on completing my novel, Deadly Portfolio: A Killing Hedge Funds. I have been very gratified by the acceptance and reviews the book has received and I am already at work on a sequel.

Money is the root of all evil; and sometimes the more you have, the more you want, which in this story, leads to forgery and eventually murder. Deadly Portfolio is the tale of four families who are tied together in this suspenseful tale of greed and power.

Stockbrokers Morrie Clay and Matthew Worth, partners in a successful business, are about to take quite a loss. Matthew is ready to retire and turn everything over to his partner. They have done business with Alan (Mac) McAllister and his wife, Rene, for several years. Rene is about to pull her account from them and take it somewhere else. Rene and Matthew do not know that Morrie has used a large sum of her money. He forged her name on a hedge fund that is now in danger of losing in the stock market. He has to try and talk her into leaving her money there for awhile until he can make her money back. When she ends up dead after a party, they call it an accident. But when two more end up dead, it’s just too coincidental. Detective James Raker believes there is more to this than meets the eye. Will they find out the truth before any more come up missing or dead? There has to be a clue someplace.

This is a fast paced novel that looks at the lifestyle of the rich, the people in high society, and those who place their own greedy- wants in place of their client's, reminding me of what goes on today in our world. It's a suspenseful story that is hard to put down once you get started reading.
