The Bible is such a fascinating book with many stories depicting parables and lessons, providing answers to prayers, and giving life examples. There are several books of the Bible that I’ve come to enjoy over the decades due to the essence of the messages contained within them which include Joseph, Job, Ruth, and Psalms. Author Patricia Herdoiza Hernandez created a beautiful fictitious account of the story of Esther, which is one of my favorite stories, that I am sure the reader will enjoy. I loved how Patricia tells this story about the love between Esther and Xerxes in Esther: Queen of Persia. She gives her account of what she believes could have occurred between them. The author, a psychology professor, views the human side and perspective of their relationship and reflects how they created a bond, were able to work through the various challenges they faced, and within their relationship built trust which enabled Esther to save her people from injustice with the support of her new husband and purpose partner, King Xerxes.

I enjoyed how Patricia Herdoiza Hernandez mentioned various books and movies that she used to frame her chapters in retelling the story of Esther. The author cleverly guides us into how Esther and Xerxes were immediately drawn to each other, which was the glue that set the tone of their relationship. They felt love, were seen, had a connection, and knew that they were safe when they were together. These are the same emotions that we all want to feel in any type of relationship. Esther had secured Xerxes' trust with her humility and concern for him while Xerxes finally felt loved as he had never been before. This union was orchestrated with a plan laid out by God to fulfill a grand master plan. God knew what was in store for the Jews and placed Esther in a non-traditional and unconventional situation for a time such as this. If you look at your life, you too will see how God has guided your steps in fulfilling the plan designed for you. For those who may not be familiar with the biblical story, Esther: Queen of Persia will be a marvelous reading experience.
