Everybody Wants to Be a Footballer by Bryan Ramsay follows Ola, a teenage boy who is obsessed with becoming a great footballer, just like Pelé. Ola is surrounded by his lively and sometimes chaotic group of friends, who all have one thing in common: becoming professional footballers. As the story progresses, there is a casual match between Ola's and Adebayo's teams, and Ronny the dog attracts John, a scout for young, talented players. Peter pitches on the team's behalf to have a friendly match with the scout's academy team. John is impressed and invites them to the match. They have a big game to look forward to, but they're nowhere near perfect. Ola's and Adebayo's teams must put their egos aside and work together. Will they achieve their goals with the help of their newly appointed coaches, Courtney and Sandra?

Everybody Wants to Be a Footballer by Bryan Ramsay is based on the lives of young teenage boys who aspire to be footballers and the challenges they face in trying to achieve their dreams. The plot was addictive as I read about their experiences, which were filled with humor, comedy, and fun moments. There were hilarious episodes like Ola attempting a bicycle kick on his bed at home, where he gets injured and is scolded by his mom. I also liked that his mom was a no-nonsense woman whose parenting style was firm. The characters were all distinct, and I loved the personalities of characters like Sandra, Ola, and David, as they stood out to me. The book is also enlightening, and I learned that female football teams were banned in the past. The book discusses growth, discipline, friendships, and determination. It is suitable for young adults and individuals who love stories about teamwork and football.
