Daniel wants adventures like his superhero, Superio, but realizes his superhero’s intent is rather self-centered. Faith wants to improve her ability to play the flute. Joanna has studied hard and believes she is ready for the test. But that’s not how the story begins in Sophia A. Ritter’s God Says You Are Amazing. As the story unfolds, each character feels insignificant and incompetent to achieve wonderful things. As they discover God and invite Him into their hearts and lives, these children can be as truly awesome as they had hoped to be.
Sophia A. Ritter’s middle-grade novel, God Says You Are Amazing, is a collector's edition combining two earlier books, God Says You Are An Amazing Girl and God Says You Are A Brilliant Boy. The plot introduces and follows a group of children as they go through their daily activities, trying to achieve success in all that they do. The language is simple and appropriate for the middle-grade age group. Each chapter begins with a quote from the Bible. Each chapter ends with a Reflection, a Challenge, and a Prayer – all referencing and enhancing the themes presented in the chapter. There are drawings, too, which help develop the plot. This is a great morale booster story to encourage young readers to accept God’s challenge to see how truly amazing they really are. Life isn’t easy, but with God’s help, love, and assurances, we can all be successful as we tackle the tough challenges that hinder our paths.
